More Art Events for January 2012

Published exclusively in this site on 13 January 2012.

VA Gallery is moving their new home to Art One in the Convention Plaza, and they are hoping to invite you over to celebrate their opening from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, 19 January 2012! Not only do they promise some great bubbly and nibbles, but you can also expect amazing contemporary Chinese artists Cai Guo-qiang, Xia Xiao-wan, Liang Quan, Song Kun, and Fan Ming-zheng to be participating in their opening displays. RSVP with them, and be prepared to rub shoulders with some of the big names from the art circle for a chill drink next week!

After settling well into the adult world, it might be a bit difficult trying to dig out the kid buried deep within you. Join Hong Kong Philharmonics Orchestra tonight, 13 January 2012, at the Tuen Mun Town Hall, or tomorrow, 14 January 2012, at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, as they bring about Sergei Prokofiev's exciting classic, Peter and the Wolf. How would the Julliard educated conductor Lio Kuok-man and the famous magician personality Harry Wong whip up an entertaining evening with musical instruments mimicking the sound of Peter, the wolf, and other animals in the forest? Well, you have really got to see it for yourself. Grab your tickets now!

On another note, the lovely Rachel invited Jasmine, Keely, and I to AnotherMountainMan's latest exhibition, Traces: On the Road Again, on Wednesday, 14 December 2011, which was held right in the heart of Lan Kwai Fong. It was all for a good cause of course, ending with Simon Birch auctioning one of his valuable workshops, with all the proceeds going towards Operation Santa Claus. It was great to catch up with Kiri and Rachel over a couple of Peroni Nastro Azzurro beers, as well as enjoying an inspiring night checking out the photographic pieces featuring Dun Huang and Kan Zi. Look at us all enjoying our night out!
