Want to find some time to wind down before the busy festive season? Sunny Wang's latest solo exhibition, Glass Be/coming, is being held at the Hong Kong Baptist University's Academy of Visual Arts Gallery till tomorrow, 6 December 2011. Prepare yourself for a meditative journey through her glass sculptures, with installation pieces exploring the concept of existence. The artist, having stayed in Taiwan, Australia, and Hong Kong, invites you to walk through the fine glass circles on the floor, reflecting on your steps and your presence, offering a quiet moment to your hectic city life and opening towards inner peace and harmony.

Sin Sin Fine Art is hosting a Reach for the HeART fundraising campaign to support their programme in encouraging elderly patients explore self healing with art through running free workshops within public hospitals. There are many event for this meaningful cause, and one of the highlights would be a charity luncheon at the Kee Club on tomorrow, 6 December 2011, serving a three-course Chinese meal with wine and champagne, which you can RSVP here. On Friday, 9 December 2011, Enharmonics, a superb acapella group from Chinese International School, will be performing at Sin Sin Fine Art to open their charity event featuring pieces by local and international artists. I have always enjoyed Enharmonics' performances, having been listening to them since their initial start up more than a decade ago, so be sure to RSVP here for the opening reception, and enjoy the spectacular performance!

Join Hong Kong Philharmonic as they feature the Best of Broadway with three of Broadway's most celebrated vocalists in the Hong Kong Culture Centre on Wednesday, 7 December 2011 and Thursday, 8 December 2011. They will be playing timeless hits like Mamma Mia, Cats, and Phantom of the Opera, so more than likely you can hum along with the familiar tunes! Conductor Carl Topilow, along with amazing Broadway vocalists Christiane Noll, Debbie Gravitte, and Doug LaBrecque, will lead you through a night of dazzling showstoppers. Sakura Ota, a talented paper artist, will be having her solo exhibition, Flower, at the Culture Club Gallery from now until Saturday, 10 December 2011. She decided on focusing upon the topic flower, because of how beautiful it is and the joys it gives people. Imagine receiving a breathtaking bouquet from your loved ones on your birthday or anniversary! Not only does it symbolises romance, it also reflects peace as well. Koru Contemporary Art is hosting an exhibition, Laisee, from Tuesday, 13 December 2011 to Tuesday, 14 February 2012, to celebrate their ten years anniversary in Hong Kong, and expressing their gratitude towards the art works that they have shared throughout the years. The exhibition is named to reflect the Chinese tradition of giving laisee as a gesture of good luck at times such as birthdays, anniversaries, and new year, so artists have been asked to respond to the idea of laisee in developing an auspicious collection of glassware, ceramics, and sculptural forms. Make sure you go and take a look at this festive collection, and see if it will inspire any ideas for your Chinese new year gifts!

If you are a violist you can't afford to miss the Hong Kong Philharmonic's tribute to Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, which would be played in the Hong Kong Culture Centre on Friday, 16 December 2011, and Saturday, 17 December 2011. Frank Peter Zimmermann, celebrated German violist with the New York Philharmonic, will be performing Beethoven’s wondrous Violin Concerto, under the lead of conductor Andreas Delfs. For the performance, they will be using the Lady Inchiquin, a 300-year-old violin made in 1711 by the legendary Italian violin maker, Antonio Stradivari.
