What To Do On the National Day Weekend

Published exclusively in this site on 30 September 2011.

It is rather unfortunate that this year's National Day is on a Saturday (Read: no extra day off). But since we would be in town anyways, we might as well make the best of it! Let's see what the town is up to for the upcoming weekend:

Saturday 1 October 2011

A fan of Kearen Pang? Her acting does reflect Hong Kongers' thought rather vividly, just like the last drama of hers that I watched with Audrey. Since it has been more than a year from her last gathering with her beloved fans, she will be having a coffee date with us on the afternoon of the National Day at Fab Café in Mongkok. Everyone who has been to the last event are still reminiscing about it, since, surprisingly, they forged unlikely friendships and discovered some new found drama buddies. After all, it does start at tea time, so I am sure you will be able to wake up for that.

Sunday 2 October 2011

The University Museum and Art Gallery in the University of Hong Kong is displaying an extraordinary collection of China in the 1920s, brought together by Liu Heung-shing, Pulitzer Prize-winning photo journalist. While the Road to 1911: a Visual History - Photo Exhibition will be on until 4 October 2011, there is actually a guided tour on the featured photos happening on the coming Sunday afternoon, which provides insights as to how modern China evolved, and what crucial part Hong Kong played in the revolution. Turn up on Sunday to experience the atmosphere inside the Qing Dynasty's imperial court and China's social conditions one century ago!
