Starting From Sketch - Frank Gehry's First Hong Kong Exhibition, Outside the Box

Published exclusively in this site on 14 September 2011.

An architect or not, you shouldn't miss Frank Gehry's first exhibition in Hong Kong. Hosted in the ArtistreeOutside the Box showcases the acclaimed Canadian architect Frank Gehry's work, from his initial sketches to his scaled models to photographs of his completed architectural pieces. The displays demonstrate his prized designs, including the Guggenheim Museum in Spain, as well as the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

Also being presented is the final design model of Opus Hong Kong, Frank Gehry’s first residential project in Asia, which would sit on 53 Stubbs Road, The Peak. As he is based in Los Angeles with his projects mainly in North America and Europe, the architect himself was thrilled to be sharing with Hong Kong the design journey of this particular project, which holds a special place in his heart. Known for pushing the boundaries and using unconventional materials and structures, he is certain that Opus Hong Kong would blend in amazingly with its breathtaking surroundings.

The exhibition has lots of documentaries and interactive stations. There is also a snacks counter managed by Feast and a book shop by Kelly and Walsh, so it makes a great place to chill during lunch hours or tea time if you work at Tai Koo Place!
