Scenery With Your Glasses Off - Impressionist Photography of Ken Ball and Wendy Roche

Published exclusively in this site on 20 September 2011.

Been going to Frank Gehry's exhibition during lunch hours for a few times already? Head over to Lincoln House to admire the spectacular impressionist art photos by none other than Ken Ball and Wendy Roche. I was there last weekend with my mom after a mouthwatering tea at Xi Yan East and a relaxing stroll along the Artistree. What an incredibly artsy way to chill!

The exhibition, named Flight of Fancy as you would appreciate once you see their images, displays artistic photographs of China, Australia, Spain, France, Italy, Holland, and Switzerland. It was interesting for my mom and I to look at places that we have been before in a blur on a canvas. How fascinating is it that Burano and Venice was immediately recognisable even when the photos look like I am standing there with my glasses off? It must be the unique colour combinations and structures of their architecture!

Their photos, with vibrant colours, ignite a one-of-a-kind visual experience. If you have been to these places before, it will instantly remind you of your own memorable travel journey; if not, it will ease the image in your brain, so that when you eventually get there, you will be able to retrieve it and savour a moment of déjà vu. Ken Ball and Wendy Roche's latest joint photography book, Impressions of Europe, is being displayed on site at the exhibition, so make sure you flip through it, and reminisce on your own European trips!
