What are You Clutching On? Handbag Ideas for 2011 Fall/Winter

First published in Elysiants on 10 January 2012.

It is funny to start thinking of the upcoming Fall/Winter collection when the weather is still so crazy hot. But September is coming up, and we are now getting swamped with finds from the latest season. Let's see what is hot for the cooler times!

1. Azyra Couture

Every girl is a princess, and we each deserve our very own Azyra clutch. Azyra stems from the Italian word for princess, which is a perfect name for a unique brand that carries luxurious evening pochettes made from the finest Italian leather. Designed by Italy-born jetsetters Sabrina and Kyra Sakhrani, their handmade pieces combine chic with sophistication flawlessly. Ogle at their 2011 F/W collection in Harvey Nichols Hong Kong!

2. Tu'i

Tu’i bags have a rusty look to it, and they made a huge dent to Bangkok's fashion scene when the brand first made its initial launch. Educated in Milan, Tipanan Krairiksh Srifuengfung, the mastermind behind Tu'i, aims to translate bold and glamorous through her designs. Using exotic leather skins to create geometric shapes, her bags are the most sought after items in Bangkok. Get your very own at Siam Paragon!

3. Lawless

Conlyn Chan, the heart of Lawless, was a Canada-born attorney who decided she preferred fashion over law, and launched her very own handbag line after lots of further study in fashion. She created an entirely unconventional luxury brand that embodies freedom, hitting right at the hearts of globe-trotting fashionistas. Find out more about her collection at Ritz Carlton Pudong!

4. American Retro

When I first saw Laure Pariente's design, I immediately thought of Rebecca's hand-painted bag the last time we were at the Canvas Lounge. Though the line is called American Retro, it is actually a Parisian brand, subtly mixing vintage chic with French elegance. This collection of bags definitely makes a fashion statement. Check out the other classic bags he has recreated at Zeuz!

5. Fiona's Collection

Fiona Ho proudly presents her collection to us, which is not surprising, as she does have something to be proud about, offering luxurious handbags made of exotic skins. Her designs are classics yet affordable, which makes her bags indispensable in every girl's wardrobe. You will more than likely be able to find your favourite among the elegant and durable pieces at her store on Lyndhurst Terrace.

Bonus: Cocomojo

Last but not least, Cocomojo doesn't just make bespoke bags. Their 2011 F/W collection is out, with the season's hottest colours and designs. I love all the python and fur they have used for their edgy bags. Go to their store at Lee Garden Two and get the love of your life, or at least, the love of this season.
