Are You a Gypset? Miriam Salat Jewelry 2011 Autumn/Winter Collection

First published in Elysiants on 31 December 2011.

Yesterday, Claudia and I were invited to have a sneak peek of Miriam Salat's 2011 Autumn/Winter collection, and were pampered with having David Joseph, the Co-Founder of Miriam Salat, to fly over all the way from New York to give us a detailed explanation of their collection.

Miriam Salat, being a relatively young brand, already attracted the eyes of renowned celebrities, such as Lady Gaga, Sandra Bullock, and Katy Perry. It is a growing trend to have a distinctive piece of Miriam Salat's jewelry in completing a red carpet look.

David was explaining to me what Miriam Salat represents. They designed with a gypset in mind. Combining gypsy and jetsetter, she is a girl who is adventurous with flair. Colours play a big role in their collections, making a Miriam Salat girl's unique as well as tasteful.

That sounds a lot like Claudia and I! We couldn't wait to try on their latest 2011 A/W collection, which is vintage looking but with a modern twist to it. The collection, inspired by Miriam's trips to Morocco, Cambodia, and Bhutan, certainly depicts style in an unconventional way.

Each piece, made of resin, sterling silver and 18kt gold vermeil, was delicately crafted in Hong Kong and New York. Claudia and I were especially in awe of their bangles' clasp, which are convenient and went on comfortably. Their bangles are now available in Lane Crawford, but I can wait for their entire 2011 A/W to be on the shelves!
