There are various French exhibitions and performances going on around town now. Did you say why? I am sure you've seen an ad or two on Le French May, one of the largest French arts festival around Asia. Offering a diverse blend of French visual arts, dance, film, music, comedy, multi-arts performances, fashion, as well as culinary arts, it is an event not to be missed.

I am particularly interested in their cinema showcase, Film Noir, bridging France and Hong Kong film industry by featuring famous filmmakers Johnnie To and Jacques Audiard.

In order to place a spotlight on the different approaches to French and Chinese film genre, they will be screening 30 films from 3 June 2011 to 26 June 2011 in IFC Palace, Broadway Cinematheque, and Hong Kong Conventional and Exhibition Centre. There will even be special events and film presentations as well to further portray the similarities and differences between French and Chinese films.

I am looking forward to watching The Wild, Wild Rose, which is directed by Wong Tin-lam. Produced by my favourite Cathay movies, this is Hong Kong's interpretation of Carmen, starring sixties sweetheart Grace Chang.

To present a more in depth French cultural knowledge to the Hong Kong audience, they are also giving special workshops, master classes, and free cultural events throughout the programme. So what are you waiting for? Get your tickets from www.urbtix.hk and www.hkticketing.com now!
